Obituary: Sivills, David Lawrence

SIVILLS, David Lawrence David Lawrence Sivills passed away August 28, 2015.

He was born April 18, 1928 to Thomas Bushel Sivills and Elizabeth Dryden Sivills in Sunbury, Holly Grove Township, North Carolina, the youngest of eight children.

He was a graduate of Central High School in Pasquotank County, North Carolina June 1, l945.

He received greetings from Mr. Harry Truman to join the Army at age 20.

After some thought he decided to join the Army Air Force to be a pilot, however upon learning he was color blind (never knew that) that was not possible.

He was stationed at Bong, Washington (now known as Fairchild Air Force Base) in the beginning.

Then was stationed at various places in the United States, plus Marrakech, Morocco, England and Johnson Island Atoll, and Korea to name a few and remained in the Air Force for 27 years and retired as Chief Master Sergeant E-9 at Fairchild Air Force Base in 1975.

He attended Eastern Washington University and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1978.

Later worked part time at various places around Spokane and in 1994 moved to a place called Desert Aire, Washington which had a beautiful golf course and decided to play many rounds of golf.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, five sisters, two brothers, two nieces and two nephews.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Sivills; sons David Jr. (Francine) and their children Patrice and Olivia, and Michael D. (Laurie) Sivills; daughter, Denise (Tom) Rabon and her daughters Christy (Scott) and Sandi (Jeff); five great-grandchildren, four stepsons, three stepdaughters, four step grandchildren, one step great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life on September 19, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at the Senior Center in Desert Aire, Washington.

Just light finger food, hopefully many funny stories from as many people who will come forward to relate to all of us and there will be a short video of pictures.
