Tiger Woods has second microdiscectomy surgery on back
Tiger Woods had a second microdiscectomy surgery on his back this week and will be sidelined the rest of the year. Woods said Friday on his website that he had surgery Wednesday in Park City, Utah. Woods said: “This is certainly disappointing, but I’m a fighter. I’ve been told I can make a full recovery, and I have no doubt that I will.” Dr. Charles Rich performed the operation and also the first procedure in March 2014. Woods was discharged Thursday night, Rich said. Winless this season, Woods failed to qualify for the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup playoffs. He had committed to play in the season-opening Frys.com Open on Oct. 15-18 at Silverado in California, but will miss that tournament along with the Bridgestone America’s Golf Cup in Mexico City and his own Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. – Associated Press
