Obituary: Oliver, Seth James

Age 82

OLIVER, Seth James (Age 82) Seth James passed away on Thursday, September 17th, 2015 at home surrounded by the family he cherished.

He was born in LaMars, Iowa on June 14, 1933 to Aloysious and Marie Oliver, one of five children.

Seth retired from the AC Nielsen Rating Research Company after 28 years and then worked for Diamond Parking until his recent illness.

He was a member of St. Thomas More parish and a Veteran of the Marine Corp. On the ship heading to the Korean War he said, “They heard I was coming over so they signed the treaty.”

He was preceded in death by his first wife Bernadine Peterson; his two sisters, Lois Stute and Mary Lungwitz; and his second wife Betty Kostecka-Oliver.

He is survived by sisters, Pat Schlicht (Tom) and Karen Oliver, both from Minnesota; step-children, Sally Hughes (Jerry) of Spokane, Walt Kostecka (Teresa) of Federal Way, WA, John Kostecka (Kelly) of Idaho Falls, ID, Mary Bosaaen of Spokane, Joe Kostecka (Tami) of Spokane, Dave Kostecka (Julie) of Mt.

Vernon WA, Pat Kostecka (Alisa) of Spokane; and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Seth often said, “Being a step-dad was the most rewarding job he ever had.”

A Rosary will be held at Hennessey Funeral Home on Division Street on Thursday, September 24th at 7:00pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas More Parish on Friday, September 25th at 10:00am.

Luncheon will follow in the parish hall.

A private interment will be on Saturday afternoon at Holy Cross Cemetery.
