Camp Fire USA Inland Northwest Council - Opportunities are available to be a club co-leader in the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene area. Contact Marcia Asmussen, program coordinator, at (509) 747-6191.

Camp Dart-Lo - Volunteers are needed to help with minor repairs and finish work. The camp is in need of lumber, siding, trim, screws and nails. Contact Executive Director Steve Jurich at (509) 747-6191 or sjurich@campfireinc.org.

Catholic Charities - Drivers are needed to deliver “brown bags” to those in need of meals who are unable to obtain food themselves. Volunteers must pass a Washington State Patrol background check, have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle to use for food deliveries and be able to lift and carry bags weighing 8 to 10 pounds. Cheney Historical Museum – The museum is looking for volunteers to welcome visitors and assist those doing research using people books and the computer database. If they would like, volunteers can also help with light cleaning, changing exhibits and small projects. The museum is open Fridays, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. October through April, and Thursday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. May through September. Shifts are usually two or four hours. Communities In Schools - Volunteers are needed to help site coordinators at Shaw Middle School and/or Sheridan Elementary School. Volunteers will be asked to commit to a minimum of four hours per week to help with paperwork, student programs, chaperoning students during/between classes, lunch times, recess times and tutoring. Dachshund Rescue NW and Dachshund Club of Spokane – Volunteers are needed to hug dachshunds so they will be socialized before being placed in new homes. Open at 10 a.m. daily with an appointment. Eastern Washington Affiliate of Susan G Komen – A volunteer is needed to fill a fundraising board position to develop and implement a fundraising program to support the affiliate’s financial needs. The Fig Tree - The nonprofit, interfaith, ecumenical multimedia organization is looking for volunteers to help with a variety of tasks including archive database development, distribution and mailing, planning fundraising and educational events and updating and distributing the annual Directory of Congregations and Community Resources. Friends of Coeur d’Alene Park – The organization is looking for volunteers to help with spring planting, summer maintenance and fall cleanup of the flower gardens in Coeur d’Alene Park and the traffic circle in Browne’s Addition. Global Neighborhood - Volunteers are needed to work with refugee individuals and families. Volunteers will interact with refugees, help them practice English, educate them on food, help with bus transit, and introduce them to family, friends and other aspects of the community. Volunteers are required to complete and submit the Global Neighborhood Volunteer application and undergo cultural orientation training. Volunteers must be at least 19 years old; submit to a Washington State Patrol background check; be willing to seek out resources for refugees; and commit to one year of service with a family or individual, three hours per week. Greater Spokane County/Valley Meals on Wheels - Volunteers are needed to deliver hot meals to elderly and disabled people. Volunteers will also need to check on the well-being of each person on their route. Volunteers may choose to drive a route any day, Monday through Friday, or drive as a substitute on flexible days. Meals will be picked up at 11 a.m. and delivered to approximately 15 people; delivery time is approximately 90 minutes. Volunteers are also needed to help prepare meals for elderly and disabled people. All skill levels are needed. Habitat for Humanity - General construction volunteers, age 16 and older, are needed to build homes. No experience is necessary and on-site training will be provided for people who are interested. For more information, call (509) 534-2552.

Hearth Homes – Volunteers, age 21 and older, are needed to drive residents to life skills classes and Hearth Homes activities. Hours and dates may vary. Hearth Homes is also in need of a van to transport residents to group activities and volunteers to help with childcare during classes, coordinate different aspects of fundraising events and prepare promotional material for annual fundraisers, the Hearth Homes website, newsletters and social media. Horizon Hospice - Compassionate volunteers are needed to visit, read, play games and spend time with Hospice patients to provide the main caregiver a break. Training will be provided.
