Southeast Spokane County Fair Celebrating the 71st year with “Farming Roots and Dusty Boots.” Community fair with exhibits, entertainment, animals, vendors, food, carnival, parade and more. Valleyfest The three-day event provides entertainment for the entire family. Tonight’s events: 5 p.m., Pre-parade rally and cruise with Spokane Hot Rod Association at Ron’s Drive-in; 6:30 p.m., Lions Club Bed Races in front of Appleway Florist; 7:30 p.m., Hearts of Gold Parade beginning at University Road and traveling east on Sprague to Pines Road. Washington State Chinese Lantern Festival Spokane Saturday-Nov. 1. Five-week celebration of Chinese culture featuring massive lanterns. The Lantern Festival features nightly cultural performances and demonstrations and children’s activities. Chef Jeremy Hanson and a slate of local guest chefs will host a culinary tour of China. Evening sessions held daily and day sessions (weekends before 4 p.m.) held Saturdays and Sundays. Senior Nights are Mondays and Tuesdays.
