Ferris defeats CV 6-2 in soccer

Sydney Clements scored twice, Alexis Murphy had a goal and two assists and Ferris overcame an early deficit to beat Central Valley 6-2 in a Greater Spokane League soccer match Friday at Ferris.

Kailyn LaBrosse gave the Bears (4-2, 1-1) a 1-0 lead with her 22nd-minute goal, but Clements and Bria Bowton responded to give Ferris a 2-1 advantage at the half.

The Saxons (4-3, 2-0) then scored four second-half goals to widen the margin.

Gonzaga Prep 3, North Central 0: Darby Doyle had a goal and an assist and the Bullpups (4-2, 2-0) topped the Indians (1-4, 0-2) in a GSL match at G-Prep. Trudi Timperman and Hannah Plank also scored for the Bullpups, who held a 10-2 shot advantage.

Shadle Park 8, Rogers 0: Keliah Shaw had a first-half hat trick and the Highlanders (3-4, 1-1) blanked the host Pirates (0-2, 0-2) in a GSL match. Veronica Mulford tacked on two goals for Shadle Park.

Mead 7, Lewis and Clark 1: Kaylyn Thompson scored twice and Alex Chambers added a goal and three assists as the Panthers (6-0, 2-0) routed the visiting Tigers (4-3, 0-2) in a GSL match. Rebekah Reason scored LC’s lone goal in the 36th minute.

University 1, Mt. Spokane 0: Morgan Crosby’s 38th-minute goal gave the Titans (4-3, 1-1) a GSL win over the visiting Wildcats (6-1, 1-1). Piper Lawson assisted on the goal.

Volleyball

Sophie West had 12 kills and five blocks and Jojo San Nicolas added 10 digs as Gonzaga Prep (2-0) topped visiting Mt. Spokane (1-1) 25-9, 25-15, 25-21 in a GSL match.

• Rachael Schlect had 12 kills, 13 digs and five blocks to guide University (2-0) past North Central (0-2) in a GSL match at Univeristy. Scores were 25-10, 25-14 and 25-11.
