Prep roundup: North Central’s Justin Janke places fifth at Bob Firman Invitational cross country meet

North Central senior Justin Janke took fifth place in the boys’ elite division at the Bob Firman Invitational cross country race Saturday at Eagle Island State Park in Boise.

Janke ran 5,000 meters in 15 minutes, 27.15 seconds. Ogden’s Alek Parsons won in 15:16.67.

Timberlake’s Taylor Hammond (19:50.92) took third place in the girls’ division III race.

• Mt. Spokane’s Hayden Dressel was second in the boys 1-2 race at the Bellevue Invitational at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah, Washington. Dressel ran 5,000 meters in 15:41.86. Mt. Spokane’s Micaela Kostecka had the third-fastest time in the girls’ 1-2 race. She finished in 18:17.79.

St. Maries and Orofino played to a 4-all draw in an Intermountain League match in Orofino. Trevor DeVries scored twice for St. Maries.
