Obituary: Malone, Beecher Neil “Jack”

Passed away on April 6, 2016 in Spokane Valley, WA.

He was born April 28, 1930 in Riverside, CA to Roderick and Gertrude Malone.

Jack moved to Ft. George Wright, WA with his military family when he was 7 or 8 years old.

He attended local schools, graduating from Lewis & Clark HS in 1949.

That same year he entered the U.S. Air Force and served in the Korean War.

A career Airman, Jack was also stationed in Goose Bay Labrador, Minot, ND, and finally at Fairchild AFB, until his honorable discharge in May of 1971.

In the military, he was a excellent fabricator and welder/metallurgist.

He also worked as a welder at Comet Trailers in Spokane Valley for over 10 years.

But he was most happy when he was helping someone, especially those in his beloved Masonic Fraternity.

A 50 year Mason, Jack was Past Master and member of Manito Masonic Lodge #246.

His Masonic career included receiving the honorary 33rd Degree.

He was proud to have assisted in raising money for the Scottish Rite Speech Clinic (RiteCare), and in serving as head of all four of the Scottish Rite Bodies.

He was a member and anchor of the Rose Croix Funeral Team for many years.

Jack was humble about his desires to help others, but it was obvious by many facets of his actions, including his willingness to help numerous cancer patients (for many years) by donating blood (pheresis) at the Inland Northwest Blood Center and becoming a member of the 10 Gallon Club.

It was his practice to always carry extra nuts/bolts, cans of oil, electrical tape, wire rolls, 12 volt light bulbs, rope, and truly, ROLLS of duct tape in his vehicle, just in case someone needed help out on the side of the road.

Jack was surely always thinking of helping others.

Jack had a playful side and loved to tease others, play cards, and spend hours with board games and puzzles.

He loved spending time in his garden and hunting/fishing.

The family spent many a night staring at the stars camping at their beloved Sullivan Lake.

And for many years, were honored to serve as Campground Hosts, there.

On Thanksgiving 2013, Jack suffered a heart attack which accelerated his vascular dementia and he spent his last two and one half years in hospitals and nursing homes.

He married Darlene Joy Kirk on April 20, 1963 and is survived by her at their family home in Otis Orchards.

He is also survived by his children, Darren Malone (Tacoma, WA) and Sharon (Bill) Reynolds (Spokane); grandchildren, Scott, Alexandra, Danielle, and Kenny; great-granddaughter, Brianna; brother Ron (Alex) Malone (Connecticut); sister Nola Cook (Vancouver WA) and by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his brother Keith (Barbara) Malone (Colorado).

Funeral service with Rose Croix participation will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 11 AM at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME, 4305 N. DIVISION, SPOKANE, WA.

Interment with Masonic and Military Honors will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery.

A reception will follow.
