Obituary: Maxey, Ruby L.

Age 96

MAXEY,
Ruby L.

1919-2016

Our beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on April 11, 2016.

She was a blessing to all who knew her.
Ruby was born May 29th, 1919 in Harris, Kansas to Louise (Shellhorn) Maxey and William Maxey.

She married Harold L. Maxey of Richmond, Kansas February 3rd, 1937.
Harold and Ruby moved to Spokane in 1942 and during WWII, Ruby worked as a storekeeper at Galena, Spokane Army Air Depot (now Fairchild Air Force Base) while her husband was overseas with the US Navy.

After the war ended, Ruby, while raising five boys and managing her home, joined Harold in the family business operating and working at their several gas stations, all with hardly a complaint.

She loved gardening, baking, helping others, and serving at her church.

Ruby is survived by 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and her sons Clifford, Gary, Mike and Tom.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harold; son Darold; her Mother and Father; two sisters; and two brothers.

Special thanks to Henderson Adult Family Home and Horizon Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Spokane.
Vigil services will be Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 5:30pm, with visitation at 4:30pm, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 304 S. Adams, Spokane Valley, WA.
