Obituary: Padrta, Audrey Jean (Hrovat)

Age 73

PADRTA, Audrey Jean (Hrovat)
(Age 73)

Audrey passed away peacefully at Spokane Hospice House North on May 2, 2015 after a battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born on October 3, 1941 in Oregon City, OR to Ed and Mary Hrovat.

She is survived by her two children Dr. Brian Padrta (Melody) and Paula Cavaness (Tommy) plus four grandchildren; Edward, Andrew, Chelsea, and Thomas III.

She graduated from Oregon City High School class of 1959 and then attended Portland State University where she was a member of the Tri-Delta Sorority.

She worked for attorney and Judge Harold Uney in Oregon City for many years before moving to Spokane in 1978 where she spent the remainder of her life working for Greg Lipsker, attorney, Gordon Budke of Pricewaterhouse Coopers, and their associates.

Her life was not always easy, but she enjoyed many things with her friends and family.

She rarely missed a grandchild’s sporting event or a parade on TV.

It didn’t matter if she had to travel, she would show up on the first day of school in Portland, or every classroom open house in Riverside.

She sat in hotel rooms and next to the pool or baseball field so as not to miss an event or game that she could whoop and holler for her grandkids and other people she didn’t even know.

Sunday afternoon was her day to meet friends and go to a movie and dinner at the Sawtooth Grill.

Every year she would travel to see a Seahawks game with friends from Oregon and California, where there was a strict agenda of shopping at Molbaks, going to dinner somewhere new, breakfast at the Maltby cafe’, and then after the game heading to Westlake pizza.

She always wanted to get a room in New York City overlooking the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, one of her beloved traditions.

She tried desperately to create some other traditions, but just couldn’t get everyone to buy into them.

You always knew what she would order when going out for dinner; any type of chicken and a white wine spritzer.

Whenever she was asked to watch the grandkids she would make a beeline for the Arby’s Drive Thru or the Longhorn for turkey sandwiches while she drove north from the Valley.

She never missed a Mother’s Day drinking wine with her children, or sometimes just sitting and watching people while holding onto an empty glass.

Just being around her friends and family was enough to make her happy.

Audrey spent a lot of time at home watching and ordering from QVC.

There was always a group Christmas gift of flashlights, ear bags, and ornaments among other “deals” that she knew someone wanted or needed.

She retired at age 66 and spent time planning and enjoying a trip to Croatia with her son, daughter-in-law, and grandson where she always wanted to go to see her “home land”.

She loved daffodils and her Dept.

56 Houses, but hated cell phones and mushrooms.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 22nd at 1:00 at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley, with reception to follow at Marketplace Winery, 39 W. Pacific Ave.
