Man killed in head-on collision on Upriver Drive

From staff reports

One man is dead following a two-vehicle collision just north of the Spokane River.

Just before 4 p.m. Tuesday, a black Honda traveling west crossed over the centerline and struck an eastbound black Kia SUV head-on near the 8000 block of East Upriver Drive, a sheriff’s news release said.

The adult male driver of the Honda died of his injuries, while the adult female driver of the SUV was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said.

No names have been released. Deputies said they do not believe speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Upriver Drive between Elton and Dick roads was closed for about two hours following the crash.
