Area boys: Nizhole Sherman’s 19 points to help Medical Lake top Chewelah
Nizhole Sherman scored 19 points and visiting Medical Lake (5-0, 2-0) held off Chewelah (3-2, 0-2) 53-41 in Northeast A action on Tuesday.
After a rough first half, Chewelah got within four points in the third quarter, but Sherman kept up his scoring to lead Medical Lake to victory.
Joey Jasmer added 11 points for Medical Lake. Nils Berger paced Chewelah with 14 points.
Freeman 77, Colville 41: Ryan Maine had 20 points and the visiting Scotties (5-0, 2-0) beat the Indians (2-4, 0-2).
Michael Coumont had 14 points for Freeman and Rhys McVay added 11.
Ty Sandaine led Colville with 13 points.
Newport 68, Deer Park 61: Owen Leslie scored 25 points to help give the Grizzlies (3-2, 1-1) a road win over the Stags (1-3, 1-1).
Danny Bradbury added 14 points in the win, including big free throws down the stretch.
Carter Countryman led Deer Park with 16 points.
Lakeside 65, Riverside 52: Tristan Cox had 22 points to help the Eagles (3-3, 2-0) defeat the visiting Rams (1-4, 0-2) in Nine Mile Falls.
Lakeside was up by four at the half before they pulled way with a 20-13 third quarter.
Mikel Bias led Riverside with 21 points.
Great Northern
Clarkston 65, Pullman 45: Jett Sobotta had 21 points with six assists to lead the visiting Bantams (4-2, 2-0) past the Greyhounds (2-2, 0-1).
Jake Albright added 12 points for Clarkston, which led 17-8 after the first quarter and used a 27-17 third quarter to pull away.
Jacob Wells had 15 points and seven rebounds for Pullman.
West Valley 71, East Valley 65: Collin Sather led the visiting Eagles (4-2, 2-0) with 16 points in a victory over the Knights (1-5, 0-2).
Cletis Hydrick brought in 15 points for West Valley, while Ethan Hagelstein scored 12 points.
Jeremiah Hillard led East Valley with 19 points and Eli Holecek scored 15 points. Gage Rogers added 13 points.
West Valley was 16 of 19 from the free throw line, while East Valley was 18 of 32.
Northeast 2B
Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 55, Reardan 44: Patrick Bartz scored 17 points with seven rebounds and three steals to lead the Broncos (3-2, 2-1) past the visiting Indians (1-1, 1-1).
Bartz nailed three 3-pointers. Andrew Alsept led Reardan with 14 points.
Liberty 72, Tekoa-Rosalia 26: Tyler Haas scored 20 points and the visiting Lancers (1-2, 1-1) routed the Timberwolves (1-4, 0-3).
Jawuan Nave, Thomas Redder, Isaak Ottmar and Jon Denny all scored 10 points apiece for Liberty.
Northeast 1B
Wellpinit 73, St. John-Endicott 40: Brandon Flett scored 16 points with 15 rebounds and seven blocks and the Redskins (3-0, 2-0) ran away from the visiting Eagles (0-3, 0-1).
Cedric Bowen also scored 16 points for Wellpinit. Adam Blakely led SJ-E with 18 points.
Selkirk 54, Cusick 43: Jacob Couch led all scorers with 18 points and 19 rebounds as the Rangers (4-1, 4-0) beat the visiting Panthers (1-4, 1-2).
Couch’s points came on eight field goals and 2 of 3 free throws. Selkirk got 17 points from Austin Robertson.
Cusick was led by Colton Hansen’s 11 points and Dylan Reijonen added 9.
Republic 53, Curlew 49: Justin Riggs and Nico Rivera both scored 14 points to help the Tigers (4-2, 2-1) defeat the visiting Cougars (0-6, 0-5) in overtime.
Curlew jumped out early out scoring Republic 30-18 in the first half. Curlew led until the 4-minute mark in the fourth quarter and neither team could pull ahead until OT.
Republic took control from the free-throw line in the extra session.
Justin Hanks scored 12 points, while Liam Chamberlain and Sam Wright had 10 points apiece for Curlew.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 72, Odessa-Harrington 45: Payton Nielsen scored 18 points with 19 rebounds and the Warriors (4-2, 3-0) routed the visiting Titans (0-1, 0-1).
Mac Isaak earned 31 points and seven assists for ACH, while Charlie Hunt scored 14 points, including four three-pointers.
Ryan Moffet led O-H with 19 points.
Columbia 56, Valley Christian 50: Riley McLain scored 19 points to lead the visiting Lions (2-3, 2-1) over the Panthers (0-6, 0-4).
Ben Riehle led VC with 11 points.

Cheney 68, Lake City 54: Devin Cook led the Blackhawks (2-2) with 17 points in their win over the visiting Timberwolves (4-1)
Jaylen Wortham had 13 points and Anthony Ehrenberg scored 10 points with six rebounds for Cheney.
Duncan Butler led three in double figures with 12 points for Lake City.
Timberlake 41, Sandpoint 38: Brayden Menti scored 13 points and the Tigers (4-1) edged the visiting Bulldogs (1-4).
