GSL boys: Tanner Groves scores 19 points and Shadle Park holds off Rogers

Tanner Groves led all scorers with 19 points and visiting Shadle Park (5-1, 2-1) held off Rogers (0-6, 0-4) 62-53 in Greater Spokane League action on Tuesday.

Rogers got within four late on three straight free throws by Maks Babich, but didn’t score again. Shadle made 5 of 6 at the line down the stretch.

Groves’ points came on six field goals and 7 of 10 free throws. Shadle Park also got 16 points from Parker Howard and 10 points from Markieth Brown.

Rogers was led by Babich’s 18 points and Mandela Kalu added 16.

Gonzaga Prep 80, University 49: Anton Watson scored 19 points and the visiting Bullpups (5-0, 4-0) cruised to a 80-49 win over the Titans (3-3, 3-1).

Kea Vargas had 14 points with four 3-pointers, Jonny Love scored 13 points and Jamarri Jones added 10. G-Prep busted out to a 19-7 lead after the first quarter and were never threatened. A 29-15 third quarter sealed the runaway win.

Boston Tacke led U-Hi with 16 points and Elijah Ramirez added 10.

Central Valley 72, North Central 35: Ryan Rehkow had 16 points to help the Bears (4-1, 3-1) defeat the visiting Indians (0-5, 0-4).

Central Valley’s Zach Stocker scored 15 points with three 3-pointers and came down with seven rebounds. Michael Plunkitt had seven points with four assists.

Leon Sayers led North Central with 13 points. The Indians were outrebounded 27-16.

Lewis and Clark 87, Mead 54: Diedrick Pakootas scored 15 points to help the Tigers (5-1, 4-0) push past visiting Mead (1-4, 0-4).

Naje Smith had 13 points and Cameron Underwood added 12 for LC. The Tigers raced out to a 20-6 after the first quarter.

Michael Winger paced Mead with 21 points.

Ferris 41, Mt. Spokane 31: Michael Ervin had 17 points and dominated the boards to lead the visiting Saxons (4-2, 2-2) past the Wildcats (1-3, 1-3) in a defensive battle.

The game was close in the first half, but Ferris got some breathing room after a 14-7 third quarter stretched their lead to 12. J.T. Smith led Mt. Spokane with nine points.
