Prep roundup: Jacob Wells helps Pullman rout rival Moscow

Jacob Wells led four players in double figures with 23 points and Pullman (3-2) routed Moscow (1-2) 79-37 on Wednesday night in nonleague action.

Pullman led 38-18 at intermission and shot 52.4 percent as a team.

Wells was 9 of 17 from the field, including five 3-pointers, and grabbed three boards. Isiah Strong and Konner Kinkaide scored 11 points apiece and Tim Pendry added 10. Jake Cillay grabbed 10 of Pullman’s 46 rebounds go to with seven points.

Hunter Pickard led Moscow with eight points.

St. Maries 67, Liberty 51: Jacob Sieler scored 31 points with seven assists and the visiting Lumberjacks (4-0) defeated the Lancers (1-3).

St. Maries came out cold, with just five points in the first quarter. Sieler knocked down four 3-pointers in a 23-13 second quarter to help the Lumberjacks vault into the lead.

Brady Martin added 13 points for St. Maries.

Sieler made all eight of his free-throw attempts and St. Maries made 20 of 28 for the game.

Patrick Paredes paced the Lancers with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Tyler Haas chipped in 11 points.

Girls basketball

Moscow 45, Pullman 41: Sarah Thorsteinson scored 11 points, Hannah Broyles added 10 and the visiting Bears (2-4) topped the Greyhounds (1-5).

Moscow led by one point, 31-30, after three quarters and held on for the win against its state-line rivals. Moscow generated 26 points off 28 Pullman turnovers.

Rian Clear led Pullman with 11 points and Kelsey Nestegard contributed 10 points. Carolena Sears had a game-high eight rebounds.

Liberty 61, St. Maries 46: Christine Denny totaled 28 points, seven steals, six rebounds and four assists as the Lancers (4-0) bested the visiting Lumberjacks (3-2).

Maisie Burnham added 11 points, including 9 of 11 makes from the free-throw line, and four rebounds.

Kelsey Auer led the Lumberjacks with 23 points.

Gymnastics

GSL Meet No. 2 at Ferris: Ferris’ Jessica Harpel took individual honors, edging Shadle Park’s Brooklynn Tarr by less than one-half point, and Central Valley took the team aspect in a Greater Spokane League gymnastics meet at Ferris.

Harpel beat Tarr 35.675-35.275. Harpel won the beam, floor and vault exercises and came in second in the bars, while Tarr took first in the bars second in beam and vault and third in floor.

In the team competition Central Valley with a score of 153.075, followed by Ferris (145.975), Cheney (134.925), Shadle Park (132.925), and Rogers (121.525).
