Prep roundup: Kentlake dispatches Gonzaga Prep; prepares for showdown with Central Valley

Kentlake, the second-ranked team in 4A, handled Gonzaga Prep 64-51 in a nonleague matchup in Spokane on Wednesday.

Jada Leonard scored 14 points and Aolani Calderon added 12 points for the Falcons.

Mia Scelfo and Molly McDermontt scored 16 points apiece for the Bullpups (6-3).

The Falcons take on Central Valley on Thursday in a matchup between the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the state.

Mt. Spokane 59, Pasco 22: Aspyn Adams scored 18 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead the Wildcats (8-1) past the Bulldogs on Wednesday in Hanford, Washington.

Emily Nelson followed Adams with 13 points.

Greg Larson Memorial Winter Classic

Northwest Christian 48, St. Maries 47: Steffanie Kiourkas drilled a 3-pointer with seven seconds remaining to lift the Crusaders (3-4) to a one-point win over the Lumberjacks (4-3) at the Greg Larson Memorial Winter Classic at Freeman High School.

Natalie Smith scored 14 points to lead NWC, while Kiourkas chipped in nine.

The Crusaders advance to play Freeman in the tournament’s championship game on Thursday at 3 p.m. St. Maries takes on Kellogg in a consolation game at noon

Freeman 45, Kellogg 42: Maggie Bailey led the Scotties with 14 points and nailed four free throws in the last 30 seconds to lift Freeman to a narrow win over the visiting Wildcats at the Greg Larson Memorial Winter Classic.

The Scotties (1-7) take on Northwest Christian in the tournament’s championship game. The Wildcats matchup with St. Maries in the consolation game.

Eagle Holiday Classic

Pullman 47, Sandpoint 45: The Greyhounds (3-6) squeaked out a win over the Bulldogs (4-8) at the Eagle Holiday Classic at West Valley High School.

Kelsey Nestegard scored 17 points and drilled five 3-pointers to lead Pullman. Carolena Sears controlled the glass with eight rebounds.

Grace Kirscher scored 20 points in a losing effort for Sandpoint.

The Greyhounds finish the event against Lakeland on Thursday at 3:30 p.m., while the Bulldogs play Lake Roosevelt on the final day.

Cheney 59, Priest River 33: The Blackhawks (5-2) jumped out to a 17-3 lead to cruise to a 26-point thumping over the Spartans (3-6).

Maggie Smith had a game-high 13 points and Kristie McGourin chipped in seven points and 13 rebounds.

The Blackhawks finish the event with a matchup against St. George’s at 6:30 p.m. Priest River opens the final day with a game against Medical Lake at 9 a.m.

Lakeside 52, La Salle 43: Sienna Swannack poured in 27 points to help the Eagles (6-3) to a win over the Lightning (3-4).

Lily Beckwith led Republic with 15 points. Shania Graham chipped in 13 points.

The Eagles finish the event undefeated, with wins over Sandpoint and La Salle.

Selkirk 44, Riverside 38: Gabi Rick scored a game-high 14 points to guide the Rangers (10-1) to a victory on the Rams (2-7).

Olivia Willis scored 13 points to lead Riverside.

The Rangers finish the tournament 2-0 while the Rams went winless.

Pomeroy 42, Lakeland 27: Madison Dixon scored a game-high 14 points and the Pirates (3-1) dispatched the Hawks (1-10).

Madi Farris had 11 rebounds for Lakeland.

The Hawks play again tomorrow against Pullman in the final day of the event.

Tonasket 61, Colville 40: Ellie Alberts scored 20 points and the Tigers (5-2) walloped the Indians (3-5).

Kaitlyn Petrey led Colville with 12 points and Josie Cox chipped in 11.

The Indians finish the event against host West Valley on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Liberty 61, Bonners Ferry 34: The Lancers (9-0) received 22-point performances from Christine Denny and Maisie Burnham in a rout of the Badgers (3-4).

Kassy Skeen scored 13 points for Bonners Ferry.

The Lancers finish the event undefeated with wins over Riverside and Bonners Ferry.

Cashmere 73, Colton 50: Hailey Van Lith scored 26 to help the Bulldogs (8-0) hand the Wildcats (7-1) their first loss of the season.

Cami Knishka added 20 points for Cashmere.

Meghan Devorak led Colton with 15.

Nonleague

Adna 59, Republic 53: The visiting Tigers (8-1) shot only 25 percent from the free throw line en route to a loss to the undefeated Pirates (7-0).

Boy’s basketball

Mead 56, Eastmont 43: The Panthers (2-7) jumped out to a 38-20 halftime lead and cruised past the visiting Wildcats (5-4) in a nonleague matchup.

Mead held Eastmont to 32 percent shooting and outrebounded the Wildcats 43-22.

Mason Tullis led Mead with 12 points.

Mt. Spokane 70, Pasco 40: Brennan Jumbo came off the bench and posted a double-double (15 points, 10 rebounds) to guide the Wildcats (5-4) to a win over the visiting Bulldogs in a nonleague game.

Martin Arceo scored 13 points to lead Pasco.

Clarkston 61, Walla Walla 45: Jett Sobotta scored 18 points to lead the visiting Bantams (6-2) past the Blue Devils in a nonconference matchup.

Logan Mullen had 11 points to lead Walla Walla.

Skyview 52, Coeur d’Alene 46: The Storm received 15-point performances from both Alex Schumacher and Taylor Harbertson and Skyview edged the visiting Vikings (2-3) in the Auburn Holiday Basketball Tournament in Auburn, Washington.

Couer d’Alene’s Sam Matheson and Joey Naccarato tied for a game-high 17 points.

Lake City Invite

Lake City 60, South Kitsap 39: Kenny Louie-McGee scored 19 and Duncan Butler added seven points and eight rebounds as the Timberwolves (5-1) defeated the Wolves in the Lake City Invite.

LC faces Timberline on Day 2, while South Kitsap takes on Lakeland.

James Buckley led the Wolves with 15 points.

Post Falls 82, Kentridge 77: Jake Pfennings scored 27 points and added 14 rebounds to pace the Trojans (5-1) past the Chargers.

Post Falls spoiled a 34-point performance from Kentridge’s Markel Banks.

Greg Larson Memorial Winter Classic

Northwest Christian 68, St. Maries 52: Ryan Ricks and Asher Cox each scored 23 points to guide the Crusaders to a 68-52 win over the Lumberjacks.

NWC outscored St. Maries 40-24 in the second half after being tied at 28 during halftime.

The Crusaders (6-1) move on to play Freeman in the tournament championship game on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The Lumberjacks (4-2) take on Kellogg in the consolation game at 1:30 p.m.

Freeman 60, Kellogg 46: Ryan Maine recorded a double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds helping the undefeated Scotties (8-0) hand the Wildcats (7-1) their first loss of the season and advance to the title game of the Greg Larson Memorial Winter Classic.

Maine was prolific behind the arc, drilling six 3-pointers in the winning effort.

Chase Jerome had 11 points, six rebounds and four steals for Kellogg.

Eagle Holiday Classic

East Valley 58, Newport 50: Eli Holecek scored a game-high 19 points and Jeremiah Hillard added 17 to lead the Knights (6-5) past the Grizzlies (5-4).

Owen Leslie had 17 points to lead Newport and Koa Pancho chipped in 15.

Lakeside 62, Sandpoint 60: Tristan Cox had 17 points and Michah Holmes added 16 points to lift the Eagles (4-4) to a two-point win over the Bulldogs (2-7).

Lakeside finishes the event against Pullman on Thursday at 5 p.m. Sand point takes on Deer Park at 1:30 p.m.

Cheney 73, Colville 34: Jaylen Worthem led the way with 15 points and the Blackhawks (5-3) drubbed the Indians (3-5).

Cheney finished with four players in double figures.

Cheney plays St. George’s tomorrow in its final game of the event at 6:30 p.m. Colville takes on host West Valley at 5 p.m.

Liberty 52, Deer Park 41: Chase Burnham scored 20 points to boost the Lancers (5-4) over the Stags (2-6).

Isaac Berglund added 15 points for Deer Park.

Liberty finishes 2-0 in the event, while Deer Park plays its final game on Thursday against Sandpoint at 1:30 p.m.

Colfax 66, Okanogan 56: Colfax outscored Okanogan 24-12 in the fourth quarter en route to 66-56 victory.

Jaydon Soncarty poured in 26 points to lead Colfax (6-3).

Colfax finishes the event 1-1 after losing to East Valley on Tuesday. Okanogan (3-4) finishes against Riverside on Thursday at 9 a.m.

Colton 70, Tonasket 67: Brady Chadwick and Matt wolf each scored 18 points to lead the Widlcats (2-4) to a narrow three-point victory over the Tigers (3-4).
