Woman who killed with a pair of scissors sentenced to 12 years in prison

Chrystal L. Huff, the woman accused of stabbing a man to death at his Browne’s Addition apartment in September 2014, was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder.

Huff, 41, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Richard Whipple on Dec. 16.

According to court documents, Huff had claimed she was sleeping at Whipple’s apartment and woke up to him trying to sexually assault her. She tried to strangle him with a wire cord before stabbing him with a pair of scissors.

Huff was arrested on the charge at her boyfriend’s apartment about a month after the murder took place.
