Obituary: Siers, Richard William “Dick”
Age 83
March 16, 1932 - February 16, 2016
On February 16th, 2016 our sweet, wonderful, ornery father stepped into glory and is now reunited with Jesus and his wife, Bobbie.
Dad was born March 16th, 1932 in Spokane, WA and was the oldest of four children born to William and Pauline Siers.
He grew up in Spokane, graduated from Gonzaga Preparatory School in 1950, and in 1951 joined the United States Navy where he served in the Reserves for eight years.
In 1953 he married Barbara Young and they were married for 62 years.
Together they raised six children and have left a legacy of 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
He worked on the pot lines and as a lab technician at Kaiser Aluminum Mead for 42 years.
Family was important to him.
He was a loving husband, father and a doting grandfather.
Dick loved to spend time at his cabin at Diamond Lake and enjoyed it more with family around.
He loved his gardening, was especially proud of his apple tree, tomatoes and onions, and always offered his bounty to whoever showed up at the house to visit.
He loved opera, Pavarotti being one of his favorites.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Bobbie.
He is survived by his children, Debbi (Jerry) Dick, Rick (Sheri) Siers, Tess (Steve) Wissink, Bunny (Dick) Webster, Joe (Teresa) Siers, Tom (Renee) Siers; sisters Diane Houston and Fran Onzay; brother Randy (Susie) Siers; his loving in-laws and numerous treasured family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 26th, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at Hennessy Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division St., Spokane, WA.
The Funeral Mass will be held at Assumption Parish, 3624 W. Indian Trail Road, Spokane, WA, Saturday, February 27th, 2016 at 10:00am with reception to follow.
Interment will follow with Military Honors at 2:00pm at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Gospel Mission or Catholic Charities.
