Four corners: WSU

Coming up: Sunday at Oregon State, 3:30 p.m. (Pac-12)

Outlook: Washington State coach Ernie Kent and Oregon State coach Wayne Tinkle have had varying degrees of success in their first two seasons at their respective programs. Both are increasingly relying on a core of young players that both coaches hope can guide them to a finish in the top half of the conference next season. While WSU will still have Josh Hawkinson and Ike Iroegbu for another season, OSU needs to capitalize on its final year with Gary Payton II, who may be the best two-way player in the conference. The Beavers still have an outside shot at an NCAA tournament berth, but those postseason hopes will be all but sunk should they lose to the Cougars.

WSU leaders

Scoring: Josh Hawkinson 15.4 ppg

Assists: Ike Iroegbu 3.5 apg

Rebounds: Hawkinson 10.8 rpg
