Karen Margaret “Mema” Svenvold was born January 17th, 1941 to Donald and Margaret Svenvold in Colville WA.
She began her education in Kettle Falls, but ultimately graduated from Colville High School.
Mema married Charles Morefield in 1959 and together they had four daughters, Christi, Lori, Juli and Sandi.
In the fall of 1978, Mema moved to Portland, OR and in 1984; her only son Ryan was born.
After completing the paralegal program, she began her career as a legal secretary.
In 1986, Mema moved back to the Spokane area and began working for the prosecuting attorneys’ office at the Spokane County Courthouse.
She truly enjoyed her work and retired after over twenty years of service.
Mema was an 11 year breast cancer survivor and enjoyed doing the breast cancer walk with “Mema’s Girls”.
Her greatest joys in life came from spending time with their family, taking road trips and especially baking with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mema is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Margaret, sister Sandra and daughter Sandi.
She is survived by her children, Christi (Tom), Lori (Jeff), Juli (Ed), Ryan (Chrissy), 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granchchild, sisters Sunnie and Diane and brother Mark.
Mema’s family would like to thank Dr. Lund, Dr. McKay and the Royal Park family for taking such excellent care of Mema.
Services will be held Thursday, February 25th, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Salvation Army Chapel, 222 E. Indiana.
