Girls basketball roundup: Davenport survives Tekoa-Rosalia’s upset bid

Sydney Abbott made 7 of 10 free throws and scored 19 points, Sydney Zeiler added 15 and Davenport survived Tekoa-Rosalia’s upset bid in a 49-43 overtime-win in a Northeast 2B League game Saturday in Rosalia.

The Timberwolves’ Tatiana Mendoza hit a 3-pointer with 3 seconds left in the fourth to force overtime, but Tekoa-Rosalia (4-10, 1-6) was unable to score in the extra frame.

Tommia Pakootas led the Timberwolves with 13 points, Hannah Beach had 11 and Mendoza finished with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

The Gorillas (12-3, 8-2) remain in first place in the NE 2B North division.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 52, Reardan 25: Peyton Curtis and Tommi Swannack scored 14 points apiece and Madi Harder pulled down nine rebounds as the Broncos (11-3, 8-2) dumped the Indians (4-10, 1-8) in Ritzville. Jada Rasmussen tallied a team-high nine points for Reardan, which was held to just one field goal in the second half.

St. George’s 42, Wilbur-Creston 23: Hailey Higashi had 16 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals and the Dragons (11-4, 6-1) opened the game on a 10-0 run and beat the visiting Wildcats (4-8, 2-7). St. George’s forced 19 turnovers and won the rebounding battle 33-17. Erin Armitage added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Dragons.

Inland Empire 4A

Sandpoint 44, Moscow 36: Madi Schoening had 21 points, six steals and four rebounds and the Bulldogs (9-8, 2-0) used a hot start in a win over the host Bears. Moscow’s Gracey Meyer had 19 and seven, but the Bears couldn’t overcome a 17-8 first-quarter deficit.

Great Northern

East Valley 64, Cheney 43: Jordan Phelan scored 14 points and Hannah Burland added 13 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and four assists as the Knights (13-2, 6-0) topped the visiting Blackhawks (5-8, 2-4). Elle Burland and Genesis Wilkinson added 13 points apiece for East Valley, which jumped ahead 20-9 in the first quarter. Cheney’s Haley Pemberton scored 12.

Clarkston 59, West Valley 26: Sequoia Swan scored 12 points and Jaclyn Meyers added 10 as the Bantams (7-6, 4-1) opened the game on a 17-4 run and coasted past the visiting Eagles (4-9, 1-4).

Northeast A

Lakeside 57, Colville 37: Shaye Swannack led three players in double figures with 12 points and the Eagles (10-3, 6-1) took control from the outset in a win over the host Indians (3-10, 1-6). Sienna Swannack added 11 points and Hallie Jensen chipped in 10 for Lakeside, which built a 39-21 halftime lead. Colville’s Josie Cox scored 13.

Riverside 43, Medical Lake 34: Julianna Trepanier made three 3-pointers and scored 11 points and the Rams (6-5, 5-2) beat the host Cardinals (3-9, 2-5). Medical Lake’s Bradyn Wegner led all scorers with 15.

Northeast 1B

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 58, Republic 50: In Coulee City, Brenna Oliver scored 17 points and Gabi Isaak added 12 points and 12 rebounds as the Warriors (12-1, 9-0) handed the Tigers (14-1, 9-1) their first loss. Almira/Coulee-Hartline pulled away with an 18-9 second-quarter run. Republic’s Shania Graham scored 26, Savannah Bowe had 11 and Lily Beckwith chipped in 10.

Wellpinit 46, Northport 44: Fawn Ford and Kiara Sherwood scored 11 points apiece and the Redskins (5-8, 4-4) edged the visiting Mustangs (4-8, 3-6). Hailey Young had 17 points and Issie Bair added 12 for Northport, but the Mustangs made just 1 of 12 free throws in the second half.

Selkirk 50, Odessa-Harrington 25: Hannah Rick scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Jenna Couch chipped in 15 points as the Rangers (8-6, 6-4) pulled away after a competitive first quarter and beat the visiting Titans (4-9, 4-4). Whitney Dawson added three 3-pointers and 13 points for Selkirk, which outscored Odessa-Harrington 31-6 in the second half. The Titans’ Katie DeWulf scored 12.

Valley Christian 53, Curlew 26: Phoebe Trigsted scored 19 points and the Panthers (7-7, 5-4) used a 13-4 first-quarter run to gain control in a win over the host Cougars (3-10, 2-8). Curlew’s Korin Baker scored nine.

Southeast 1B

Garfield-Palouse 60, Oakesdale 44: Payson Griner made 10 of 14 shots and scored 27 points to help guide the Vikings (5-8, 2-6) past the host Nighthawks (8-6, 3-5). Keely Burnes and Emmy Gregg added eight points apiece for Garfield-Palouse. Oakesdale’s Lindsey Lindgren scored 15.

Colton 65, LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 8: Dakota Patchen and MaryAnn Jacobs led a balanced offensive attack with 11 points apiece and the Wildcats (13-1, 9-0) topped the host Tigercats (2-9, 0-8).

Touchet 66, St. John-Endicott 38: Sierra McKeown scored 30 points to guide the Indians to an easy win over the visiting Eagles (7-7, 3-5). Katie Skramstad added 15 for Touchet, which put the game away with a 24-9 third-quarter run. St. John-Endicott’s Gracie Dickerson scored 19.

Nonleague

Springdale 60, Cusick 50: Nichole Beckman scored 16 of her 21 points in the second half and grabbed 20 rebounds to power the Chargers (5-8) past the visiting Panthers (6-7). Eilish Smith added 13 points, seven assists and five steals for Springdale, which outscored Cusick by 10 in the second half. Racheal Wynne led Cusick with 13 points and Gracie Strangeowl and Brianna Balcom each added 10.
