Agreed The Tigers have agreed to a $132.75 million, six-year contract with free-agent outfielder Justin Upton, according to a person with knowledge.

Left-hander Wei-Yin Chen has finalized an $80 million, five-year contract with the Miami Marlins. Chen can opt out after 2017 and has an option for 2021.

Nathan Eovaldi has agreed to a $5.6 million, one-year contract with the New York Yankees, who also settled with shortstop Didi Gregorius at $2,425,000.

Investigated Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish says he has never been involved in gambling activities amid a MLB investigation after the arrest of his brother in Japan. Sho Darvish was reportedly charged last October in Japan with running an illegal gambling ring that allegedly took about 1,850 bets on MLB games as well as professional baseball games in Japan.

Suspended Baltimore pitcher Zack Dodson has been suspended 100 games following a third positive test for a drug of abuse. In addition, Mets third baseman Eudor Garcia was banned 80 games after a positive test for Bumetanide, a diuretic that can mask steroids, and Furosemide.

Resigned Chandini Portteus, the chief executive of the Livestrong cancer foundation, resigned after less than one year on the job to focus on her family.

Appointed The University of Washington appointed Jennifer Cohen as its interim athletic director. Cohen will take over for Scott Woodward, who is leaving the school to take the athletic director position at Texas A&M.

Died Lou Michaels, a two-time All-America tackle at Kentucky and College Football Hall of Famer, died. He was 80. His daughter, Michele Grochocki, said he had pancreatic cancer.

Awarded Triple Crown-winning Horse of the Year American Pharoah was chosen the World’s Best Racehorse by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities.
