WV district considers kindergarten center
At a board meeting Wednesday, parents of students in the West Valley School District will have a chance to ask questions about a recommendation to repurpose Millwood Early Childhood Center into a district kindergarten center.
The recommendation from a committee of stakeholder representatives comes after the Washington Legislature designated funds for a reduction in class sizes for kindergarten through third grade starting with the 2016-17 school year.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at Millwood School, 8818. E. Grace Ave.
Schools, engineering firm work on invention project
East Valley High School Future Business Leaders of America students recently teamed up with East Valley Middle School and McKinstry Engineering for a Young Entrepreneur project as part of the Partnership with Business Project and American Enterprise Project for a state FBLA conference, which will be held in Spokane in April.
Audrey Burgess, Baylee Buchanan, Laural Weberg, Colton Sior and Anasage Aldendorf visited Jon Larson‘s eighth-grade engineering class for two weeks to help his students create a concept, make a business plan and build a prototype. The students then came up with a sales pitch, which they gave during lunch. Other students then voted on their prototypes.
McKinstry created a professional prototype of the winning invention.
