1. Friday Musical: Celebrate the Dramatic Arts 1 p.m. Friday, Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture, 2316 W. First Ave. The Friday Musical program continues its centennial celebration with a program devoted to the stage. Jadd Davis, artistic director of Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre, and Barry K. 5. “What’s So Great about Beethoven? (De/Con/Struction of the 5th)” 2 p.m. Saturday, Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture, 2316 W. First Ave. This multimedia program will take the audience through Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, perhaps the best known and most popular symphony ever written. Educator and musician Donivan Johnson will talk about the symphony’s backstory, composition, premiere and reception, and the influence this particular work has had on culture and society for more than 200 years. This presentation is for all ages. Audience members will be encouraged to “re-compose” the very familiar opening notes of the first movement.
