Weekend weather: Showers and mild temperatures are in store for Inland Northwest
Rain showers and mild temperatures are in store for the Inland Northwest through the upcoming weekend.
Forecasters are describing the upcoming weekend as being unsettled with below normal temperatures, breezy winds and occasional periods of rain and showers.
Thursday appears to be the warmest day of the period with a high near 80 under partly sunny skies and light winds in Spokane.
Later in the day a warm front is expected to swing through the region.
The front is being driven by a new system of lower air pressure that will move onshore on Thursday and reach the Inland Northwest by Thursday evening and into Friday morning.
The system will bring a chance of rain to North Idaho and Eastern Washington.
Gusty winds are likely on Thursday in the Columbia Basin.
The high temperature on Friday will be 75 in Spokane and slightly cooler in Coeur d’Alene.
The chance of showers and thunderstorms increases on Friday night and Saturday as another low pressure system sets up just west of the Washington coast.
The high on Saturday may only make it to the lower 70s in Spokane.
Showers could persist into Sunday and Monday with highs near 70 degrees.
Low temperatures will be in the 50s through Sunday.
Coeur d’Alene will be several degrees cooler than Spokane through Monday. Temperatures start out in the middle 70s on Thursday and then drop a few degrees each day through Sunday in the Lake City.
In the mountains, highs will start out in the 50s and then drop into the upper 40s by Saturday. Lows could fall to the upper 30s at upper elevations on Saturday night.
Shower chances will also be greater in the mountains and across North Idaho.
The normal high for this time of year in Spokane is 80 degrees with a normal low of 54.
