Girl struck by SUV still in critical condition

A 7-year-old girl was still hospitalized in critical condition Wednesday morning, a day after she was struck by an SUV while crossing a street in Mead.

The girl was airlifted to a hospital after stepping in front of the SUV as it traveled east near the intersection of East Pine Glen Road and North Yale Road, said Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Gregory. She had been walking to a bus stop on her way to school.
