Weekend weather: Spring-like weather holds through weekend
Spring-like conditions with showers and mild temperatures should persist through the weekend. Summer is just around the corner.
A mix of sun, clouds and possible showers will keep the weather comfortable and not overly wet.
Spring officially ends on Monday with the summer solstice at 3:34 p.m.
National Weather Service forecasters said that any return to summer-like conditions won’t arrive until after the weekend – and may hold off until the middle of next week.
Stubborn and slow-moving low air pressure in the upper atmosphere is responsible for this week’s cool down.
The low could trigger showers and even some thunderstorms across a broad area of the Inland Northwest, especially in southeast Washington and mountain areas.
In Spokane, skies on Thursday should be partly sunny with a slight chance of a passing shower and a high of 66 degrees. Southwest winds could reach 13 mph today.
In Coeur d’Alene, similar weather also brings a chance of lightning after 11 a.m.
Changeable conditions could bring another chance of showers on Friday night into Saturday.
High temperatures will be on the rebound reaching the lower 70s on Friday and Saturday.
Father’s Day should be the warmest and sunniest of days through Sunday with highs nudging into the middle 70s under sunny skies in Spokane.
Coeur d’Alene and North Idaho will be slower to shed all of the clouds this weekend. The Lake City may see mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower 70s on Sunday.
Lows during the period will start out in the lower and middle 40s and warm to the upper 40s by Saturday night.
In Spokane, the normal high for the middle of June is 73 with a normal low of 50.
The region is now seeing nearly 16 hours of daylight each day with sunrise in Spokane at 4:52 a.m. and sunset at 8:50 p.m.
