Chiefs’ Kailer Yamamoto receives invitation to national junior evaluation camp

Spokane Chiefs leading scorer Kailer Yamamoto has been invited to the USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp that runs from July 7 to Aug. 7 in Plymouth, Michigan.

Yamamoto, of Spokane’s Mead High, compiled 71 points, including 19 goals. in 57 games last season, his second year in the Western Hockey League.

The forward is one of 42 players invited to compete for a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team that will compete in the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship in Montreal and Toronto.

Yamamoto previously played for Team USA in the 2016 IIHF U18 World Championship in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

He scored seven goals and finished with 13 points in seven games to help the Americans earn the bronze medal.
