(Age 92)

Eldon Shaw, a lifelong DeSmet, ID area resident, passed away March 2, 2016 in Spokane, WA.

He was born April 22, 1923 near Tensed, ID to Roy A. and Mary (Albin) Shaw.

Eldon attended 1st grade at the Tensed School, then att- ended the Fairview Country School, then two years at Plummer High School.

Eldon then farmed with his father south of DeSmet for the next few years.
Eldon Shaw married Mary Ann Hughes on November 9, 1947 at Plummer, ID and the couple made their home south of DeSmet, ID where he farmed.

In 1959, Eldon went to work at Potlatch Forests, Inc. at Potlatch, ID.

He worked for the mill for 26 years as a Trimmer Operator and Sealer until the mill closed in 1981.

Eldon then worked as a security officer at the mill until it was torn down.

Mr. Shaw then retired.

The family continued to live on their farm near DeSmet.
Eldon attended the Elmore United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Woodworkers of America and the National Rifle Association.

He was a former member of the Tensed Grange # 293 and a former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Tekoa.

While growing up, Eldon played in the school band, and later traveled and sang with the Dave Garrick Band of DeSmet.


Survivors include his wife Mary Ann Shaw at the family home; three daughters, Eldonna (Larry) Davis of Spokane Valley, WA, Cathy (Bob) Horlacher of DeSmet, ID, Teresa (Jacey) Nygaard of DeSmet, ID; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son Daniel Shaw and his grandson Ethan Horlacher.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Tensed Community Center in Tensed, ID.

Pastors Kathy Kramer and Marlow Thompson will officiate at the service.

A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries, ID.

Memorial gifts may be given to the Elmore United Methodist Church, PO Box 584, Potlatch, ID, or to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund, PO Box 63, Potlatch, ID, 83855.
Kramer Funeral Home of Tekoa, WA is handling the arrangements.
