Don Coy
(Age 79)

Passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016 in San Jose, California.

A lovely memorial service was given in his honor by his friend and Pastor, Reverend Bob Crossland of Grace Presbyterian Church on Sunday, March 13th 2016.
Don was born June 18th, 1936 was adopted and lovingly raised by his parents, Shirley (Jim) Brumm and Zoe Elsie Brumm in Spokane, and Liberty Lake, WA..
Don served in the U. S. Army in Korea.

He graduated from Washington State University, worked at Boeing, IBM, Control Data and Amdahl, riding the crest of the wave of computer technology in the Silicon Valley.

An author of numerous books on Programming Language, he was an innovator in Computer Programming.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Penelope Brumm, the love of his life and partner in all of his endeavors.

They worked together, traveled together, raised their children and shared a long and happy marriage.
He is survived by his identical twin brother, Ronald Obermarck and his children, ZoAnn Brumm, Donae Kelly, Thomas Brumm, Erin Brumm-Pettengill and five grandchildren, Kurtis Hamilton, Madison Pettengill, Allison Brumm, and Zoann and Lillie Kelly.

He will be missed tremendously by his family and all who loved him.
He was an avid marksman, loved guns and was an active member of the NRA, was a black belt in Karate, a skier, backpacker, built computers as a hobby, and enjoyed reading above all else.


Four years ago, he found Christ our Lord.

He was baptized and devoted himself to the service of God.

His faith was a renewal for him and gave him another chapter.

He loved God and his church community.
His ashes will be interred at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.

per his wishes.


A celebration of his life will be held there by his family in June.
