Alaska USA Federal Credit Union to enter Spokane market with three branches

From staff reports

Alaska USA Federal Credit Union will enter the Eastern Washington market with three branches inside Safeway stores.

The new branches will open on May 23, and will be located in stores at 2507 W. Wellesley Ave., in Northwest Spokane; on the South Hill at 2509 E. 29th Ave.; and the University District at 933 E. Mission Ave.

The additions will give the Anchorage-based financial institution 77 branches in Alaska, Arizona, California and Washington.

The credit union was founded in 1948 to serve federal civil service personnel in Alaska, and later expanded to serve officers and enlisted personnel.

“These three new locations are a logical extension of Alaska USA’s network of 30 branches already open in Washington, as we look to provide service, value and convenience to our members in the Spokane area,” Brian Wolf, chief operations officer, said in a news release.

The Spokane branches will offer a full range of credit union services and will be open seven days a week and most holidays.

Alaska USA Federal Credit Union has $6.34 billion in assets and more than half a million members.
