Machine gun leads to arrest of Oregon man
PORTLAND – Federal agents arrested an Oregon man after finding a machine gun hidden under the bed of his trailer.
The FBI said 54-year-old Michael Ray Emry was taken into custody on Friday at his home in John Day, Oregon. FBI and ATF agents searched Emry’s home and found the weapon. Its serial number had been rubbed off.
The ATF said the M2 machine gun was capable of firing 550 to 650 rounds per minute.
The FBI said Emry admitted taking the gun from a shop where he works in Idaho. Emry said the owner of the shop did not know that he had taken the weapon.
Emry was charged with illegally possessing a machine gun and possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number, the FBI said.
