65th annual Junior Lilac Parade is Saturday
The 65th Junior Lilac Parade makes its way through downtown on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m.
The parade features bands and drill teams from local elementary and middle schools.
Elected officials and local businesses are also part of the parade, alongside mascots from local sports teams.
This year’s theme is, “Music Machine 2016: A Tribute to One-Hit-Wonders,” and participating groups are judged on many factors including best performance and best adherence to the theme.
The staging area for the parade is on Cataldo Avenue, just east of the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena. From there the parade heads south on Washington Street, turns west on Riverside Avenue, goes north on Stevens Street and turns west on Spokane Falls Boulevard. It ends on Post Street in front of City Hall.
