Prep roundup: Lewis and Clark dominates District 8 4A

Lewis and Clark’s Abby Denike and Brooke Fager defeated teammates Mary Stoa and Hannah Hendrickson 6-0, 6-2 Friday to wins the doubles championship at the District 8 4A tournament at Ferris.

Central Valley’s Kyra Harames and Mead’s Katie Kuka won semifinals to advance to Saturday’s championship match.

Kyle Fager and Jacob Johnson both earned straight-sets victories at Ferris to set up an all-Lewis and Clark 4A boys singles final.

District 8 3A

Shadle Park junior Audra Spargo defeated Mt. Spokane’s Rachel Pilgeram 6-0, 6-1 at Shadle Park to win her third consecutive girls singles title.

Mt. Spokane’s Kate Grossman earned the alternate spot to regionals by defeating North Central’s Hana Nelson 6-0, 7-6 (7-2) for third place.

Mt. Spokane won the team title with 44 points, followed by Shadle (34), Rogers (28) and NC (20).

Idaho track

In the 5A Region I meet at Lewiston, Coeur d’Alene’s girls and Lewiston’s boys captured titles.

Taryn Horvath and Caitlin Conway were double winners for CdA. Horvath won the 100 (12.87) and 200 (26.39) while Conway won the 800 (2:21.10) and 1,600 (5:17.30).

In boys, CdA’s Zac Magee was a double winner in the 200 (22.37) and 400 (48.64).

In the 4A Region I meet at Lewiston, Sandpoint’s girls and Moscow’s boys were the team winners.

Hannah Davidson led Sandpoint, winning the 800 (2:23.45) and running a leg on the winning 1,600 relay.

Joey Cook led Moscow, winning the 400 (49.87).

In the 3A District I meet at Timberlake, the host Tigers’ boys and girls teams each won.

Randy Duclos was a double winner for Timberlake in the 100 (11.53) and 200 (23.92).

In the girls, Timberlake’s depth carried the way. McKeeley Tonkin, Aislynn Anderson, Allison Kirby and Abigail Peightal combined to win the 1,600 relay (4:20.88) for the Tigers.
