Fire District 9 to host Demo Fair

Spokane County Fire District 9 will host its annual Demo Day and Wellness Fair on June 4.

The event will include demonstrations of auto accident rescue techniques, vertical rope rappelling rescues and live firefighting, including a mock residential room which shows how easily a fire can start and how quickly it can spread.

For children, there will be a Junior Challenge Course to try out firefighting techniques and the EDITH trailer to learn about fire safety and exit drills. Adults can try using a fire extinguisher. There will also be a helicopter and boat, plus Smokey Bear.

The fair is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire district’s training center, located at 3801 Farwell Road in Mead.
