STCU and Rocket Bakery will share a new location in River Park Square.

The two Spokane-area businesses will be located near the Urban Outfitters store that’s under construction at Main Avenue and Wall Street.

STCU’s downtown branch is moving from Crescent Court into 2,900 square feet of space in the shopping mall, according to a news release. The mall location will be a new one for the Rocket Bakery, which has five sit-down locations and one drive-through in the region.

There will be indoor and outdoor seating at the shared location, which is expected to open in October. Jeff Postlewait, who founded the Rocket Bakery with his wife Julia Postlewait in 1992, said the new location will offer coffee and a range of baked goods plus some lunch items.

Tom Johnson, president and CEO of the credit union, said the two businesses share cultural similarities and the Rocket was “on the short list of potential partners” when STCU decided to move its downtown branch to River Park Square. STCU’s 19th branch will open this summer in Qualchan.

River Park Square is an affiliate of Cowles Co., which also publishes The Spokesman-Review.
