Man initially claims fatal shooting was an accident

EVERETT – Newly released court records reveal that the 19-year-old man accused of fatally shooting three former classmates at a house party in suburban Seattle initially claimed the shooting was accidental.

The Everett Daily Herald reported that when detectives first met with Allen Ivanov on July 30, Ivanov said he was confused that night and not thinking straight. Ivanov also described sneaking around outside for hours and getting close enough to eavesdrop. He admitted being jealous that his former girlfriend Anna Bui was having fun without him.

Mukilteo police detective said in an affidavit that Ivanov admitted that when he put the magazine in the rifle, he intended to kill people. But Ivanov maintained that he did not mean to shoot Bui.

He has pleaded not guilty to three aggravated murder and two attempted murder charges.
