Small wildfire burning above Wenatchee

Ashes dumped from a marijuana pipe sparked a wildfire in the Wenatchee foothills Sunday afternoon, prompting officials to issue evacuation warnings.

Fire crews had the Horse Lake Road fire partially contained by Sunday evening, the Wenatchee World reported.

Rich Magnussen with Chelan County Emergency Management said the fire was about 10 acres in size. A couple of old homestead buildings burned, he said.

Officials said three males were smoking marijuana in a car and one of them dumped the ashes onto the ground, sparking the fire. The 21-year-old driver was arrested by the Washington State Patrol on suspicion of driving under the influence.
