Crimson and Gray Game play of the game: Keith Harrington’s run

When scrolling through the plays from Saturday’s Crimson and Gray game, Keith Harrington’s 21-yard run won’t stand out much. Harrington did not score on the play, and it was far from the day’s biggest yards gainer.

But no play had bigger implications for Washington State’s 2017 season.

The play called for Harrington to take the handoff and run to the left. But in a split second, he decided otherwise, planting his left foot and cutting to the right, gaining a first down and more before the defense could adjust to his sudden change in direction.

It was the kind of cut few other players on the team could make, and one the team missed when Harrington missed most of last season while dealing with hamstring issues.

WSU has depth at running back and Harrington will have to earn his touches, but with one snap on Saturday he showed he still has the big-play ability that will get him on the field.
