Eastern Washington athletics will continue its broadcasting partnership with Learfield’s Eagles Sports Properties for at least three more seasons, the school announced Wednesday.

Learfield and award-winning sportscaster Larry Weir will broadcast Eastern football and men’s basketball through the 2019-20 season, according to a multi-year contract extension finalized this week.

The agreement with KXLY Broadcast Group ensures that Eagle games will continue to be aired on 700-AM ESPN and 105.3-FM in the Spokane area.

“Larry is without doubt the voice of the Eagles, and we’re lucky to be represented by him,” said Eastern athletic director Bill Chaves.

Weir, a two-time Washington state sportscaster of the year in 2014 and 2015, will be joined in the football booth for the 15th year by analyst and commentator Paul Sorensen, a former Washington State player who will be inducted into the Cougar Hall of Fame next month.

Weir and Sorensen also will host weekly coaches’ shows live from Northern Quest Casino and Resort on Mondays at 6 p.m. throughout the season.

The first show is Sept. 4, with a special Eagle football preview show airing Aug. 28 from Cheney.
