Wrestling roundup: Ky Haney leads Mt. Spokane to third straight win

Mt. Spokane 46, Central Valley 24: Ky Haney pinned Jared Clark in 14 seconds and the Wildcats (3-0) cruised past the visiting Bears (1-1) on Wednesday in a Greater Spokane League dual. The Bears’ Wyatt Whickham pinned Gavin McReady in 16 seconds to finish off the night. Ben Clark started the night strong for the Wilcats as he beat Spencer Wilson 10-1 by major decision.

Mead 58, Shadle Park 10: Yunadi Bogatyrev beat Aaron Childers by major decision 10-2 and the visiting Panthers (3-0) defeated the Highlanders (0-2). Mead won 11 of the 14 matchups on the night. Juan Escobar was the Highlanders best wrestler, beating Evan Jones 12-1 in a major decision.

Rogers 42, Lewis and Clark 34: Broc Houser pinned Richard Greaves in two minutes and eight seconds and the visiting Pirates (2-1) beat the Tigers (0-3). The Tigers’ Tyler Scharff posted a strong showing when he defeatd CJ Yoshikawa 12-3. Rogers won three rounds via forfeit. Israel Alvarez took only 50 seconds to pin the Pirates Kenneth Jordan.

University 37, Ferris 19: Kyler Terrell Sanders pinned Anthony Urbancic in 31 seconds to clinch the dual and the visiting Titans (2-1) beat the Saxons (1-2). University won eight of the 13 weight classes. Ferris started the night with two straight wins (Ken Johnson and James Walker) and four of the first five, University took seven of the final eight rounds.

North Central 55, Gonzaga Prep 21: Sam Seremet pinned Tim Craven in 28 seconds and the visiting Indians (2-1) coasted past the Bullpups (0-3). The Bullpups’ Darius Johnson took only 1:35 to pin his opponent. Kadin Shaw of North Central beat Daniel Dougherty by major decision, 13-4. North Central won 10 of the 14 matchups on the night.

Great Northern League

East Valley 54, West Valley 15: Zane Stevens defeated Tanner Strange by technical fall 18-3 and the visiting Knights (1-0) dominated the Eagles (0-1). The Knights’ CJ Atkins pinned Chase Wiedmer in two minutes and 41 seconds. The Knights won 10 of the 14 weight classes.

Coeur d’ Alene 78, Kellogg 7: Klayton Hindberg pinned Carson Hudson in 41 seconds and the Vikings beat the visiting Wildcats. Taylor Bush (major decision) and Juddson Hall (decision) registered the Wildcats’ only wins on the night. Coeur d’Alene won 12 of the 14 matchups.
