New Post Falls distribution center receives grant for worker training
UPDATED: Thu., Dec. 14, 2017
A Post Falls distribution center will receive a $151,000 grant from the state of Idaho for training 167 workers.
Orgill, a Tennessee-based distributor of hardware and home improvement products, opened the Post Falls distribution center in June. The center is currently advertising for materials handling and driving positions, according to its human resources department.
Orgill purchased the former Kimball office furniture factory at 1881 W. Seltice Way. The distribution center serves retailers in five states and western Canada.
The grant was awarded through Idaho’s Workforce Development Training Fund, which reimburses companies for training new employees or retraining existing workers for expansion initiatives. To qualify, companies must pay at least $12 per hour, provide health insurance to workers and sell goods or services outside of the region.
Orgill pays an average wage of nearly $17 at its Post Falls distribution center, according to a news release.
The Post Falls operation is one of Orgill’s seven distribution centers. The privately held company is based in Memphis, Tennessee. It sells a line of more than 75,000 products to retailers in more than 60 countries.
