Man killed after walking in front of train near Airway Heights

A man died near Airway Heights on Friday after walking in front of a moving train, according to the Spokane Sheriff’s Office.

An eastbound BNSF train struck and killed the man, thought to be in his 30s, on South Christensen Road around 12:30 p.m., just south of Highway 2.

According to the Sheriff’s office, the the man’s death was ruled a suicide and that BNSF crew members were members shaken up by the incident.
