Child care employee charged with rape of 5-year-old girl

Associated Press

GIG HARBOR, Wash. – A man employed at a Gig Harbor child care center has been charged with four counts of child rape involving a 5-year-old student.

The News Tribune reported 26-year-old Parker Trotter was charged Wednesday. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was ordered held on $150,000 bail.

The girl’s parents reported the alleged sexual abuse Feb. 1 after she told them about it. The child said it happened at Little Steps Christian Learning Center at nap time when Trotter was alone supervising the children.

Prosecutors say Trotter, who has worked there since September, acknowledged he was left alone with the kids at nap time but denied inappropriately touching the girl.

In court, Trotter also was ordered to have no contact with his mother, who runs the facility.
