Man accused of crashing into bus carrying 16 children

Associated Press

BILLINGS – A man has been accused of endangering children by driving while intoxicated and crashing into a school bus in Billings that was carrying 16 children.

The Billings Gazette reported that the 38-year-old man was charged Thursday in Yellowstone County Justice Court with felony criminal endangerment and six misdemeanors including DUI and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

The man was ordered to be held on $50,000 bond. He did not enter a plea.

The man was arrested Wednesday after he drove his Pontiac Grand Am into a school bus about a block from Alkali Creek Elementary School. A passenger in the Pontiac had to be taken to the hospital. The suspect left the scene and was later arrested in a nearby neighborhood.

None of the bus passengers were injured.
