Repeat offender arrested for three attempted carjackings in downtown Spokane

Police arrested a four-time convicted felon Friday morning after he reportedly attempted to carjack three cars in downtown Spokane just after 8 a.m.

One driver was at the I-90 westbound off-ramp at Division Street and the other two were in the back parking lot of the Goodwill Thrift Store at 202 E. Third Ave., according to a Spokane Police Department news release. He was reportedly yelling “Give me your car!” over and over.

Police located and arrested 23-year-old Jyreel D. Brandom, who has an extensive criminal history.

Two of the drivers were injured when Brandom reportedly tried to physically pull them out of their cars. One of the drivers, a 67-year-old woman, was grabbed by the neck as Brandom repeatedly yanked on her, police said.

Brandom is facing two charges of attempted first-degree robbery and one charge of attempted second-degree robbery.
