Mariners Noon Number: Robinson Cano still putting up big numbers

Robinson Cano launched two home runs in the Seattle Mariners 10-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in Orange County in the state of California on Friday.

Cano’s performance was part of a four-homer, 17-hit attack that was much needed after slogging through a four-game losing streak – including a pair to the Phillies at home, the worst road team in MLB.

Cano is steadily creeping up a very impressive list. Friday was his 22nd multi-homer game, placing him third among second basemen in MLB history, behind only Ryne Snadberg (24) and Chase Utley (23).

After starting off slow, Cano is putting up a fairly typical productive season: .287 average, .847 OPS with 16 homers after 81 games. It’s easy enough to extrapolate out to a full season, taking health for granted, and see he remains one of the best hitters in the game.
