Tyler Cloyd pitched one scoreless inning in his first MLB appearance since 2013 and earned his first win since June, 2013 with Philadelphia in the Seattle Mariners 4-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.

Cloyd, 30, was an 18th round draft pick in 2008 of the Philadelphia Phillies, made his MLB debut for the Phils in 2012, going 2-2 with a 4.91 ERA in six starts. He made 11 starts for the Phillies the next year, but struggled to a 2-7 record and 6.56 ERA.

He toiled in AAA for Columbus in the Cleveland Indians organization in ’14, going 10-8 with a 3.90 ERA. He didn’t find any MLB takers for the next season, so he went to Korea and pitched for Samsung of the KBO.

He came back to the states in 2016 but made just four appearances for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before suffering an elbow injury which required Tommy John surgery.

At the start of this season, he was with the independent Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League when GM Jerry Dipoto plucked him up with all the injuries in the system and sent him to Tacoma in mid-May, where he went 1-0 in four starts with a 1.10 ERA and 0.612 WHIP.
