Mariners Noon Number: M’s continue up and down pattern

The Seattle Mariners lost to the Philadelphia Phillies, one of the worst teams in MLB (25-51) and the worst on the road (11-31), 8-2 on Tuesday for the M’s third straight loss following a season-high six-game winning streak.

It’s losses like this that the M’s will look back on and lament if they end up missing a wildcard spot by a game or two.

The Phillies snapped a three-game losing streak with the win and they’ve now won back-to-back Interleague games since starting the season 0-8 against the American League.

There was some good. Jean Segura hit a two-run homer run and was on base twice. Danny Valencia had a pair of hits and over the last three games is 8 for 11 with three runs, a double, two RBIs and two walks.

And James Paxton was real sharp early, keeping the Phillies hitless over four before running into trouble in the fifth. Still, with this offense three runs over seven inning with nine strikeouts will get the job done more nights than not.
