Nationals shortstop and leadoff hitter Trea Turner broke his right wrist when hit by a 96 mph fastball from the Chicago Cubs’ Pedro Strop in the seventh inning of Washington’s 5-4 loss to the visiting Chicago Cubs on Thursday.

Turner stole two bases, giving him seven in the four-game series and 35 this season. He is batting .279 with seven homers and 32 RBIs after finishing second in voting for 2016 N.L. Rookie of the Year.

Jon Jay hit a go-ahead two-run double during a three-run ninth-inning rally against Blake Treinen (0-2)

Wade Davis struck out two in a perfect ninth for his 16th save after Felix Pena (1-0) worked the eighth.

Dodgers 6, Angels 2: Clayton Kershaw struck out 12 to become the majors’ first 12-game winner, Joc Pederson hit a three-run homer and Los Angeles salvaged a split of the Freeway Series with a win in Anaheim, California.

Kershaw (12-2) yielded three hits and one unearned run over seven dominant innings, posting his fifth double-digit strikeout total of the season. He got ample support from the homer-happy N.L. leaders, who have won 18 of 21.

After Yasiel Puig and Chase Utley homered in the fifth inning, Pederson’s sixth-inning shot off J.C. Ramirez (7-6) gave the Dodgers 50 homers in June, breaking the 135-year-old franchise’s record for homers in a calendar month, set in 1953.

Red Sox 6, Twins 3: David Price won for the second time in three starts, Mookie Betts and Hanley Ramirez hit solo home runs, and Boston rallied from a three-run deficit to beat visiting Minnesota.

Tzu-Wei Lin singled and tripled for his first multihit game. Jackie Bradley Jr. had three hits and an RBI.

Price (3-2) threw a season-high 112 pitches over seven innings, allowing three runs and six hits with seven strikeouts and no walks. Craig Kimbrel pitched a one-hit ninth for his A.L.-leading 22nd save in 23 chances, finishing Boston’s last home game before the All-Star break.

Kyle Gibson (4-6) allowed five runs – three earned – and six hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Brewers 11, Reds 3: Ryan Braun started Milwaukee’s six-homer barrage, hitting the first of three off Homer Bailey, and the Brewers beat host Cincinnati, salvaging the final game of their series.

The N.L. Central leaders hit six homers for the first time since 2007, when they also did it in Cincinnati. Jonathan Villar connected twice as Milwaukee matched its season high for runs. Jesus Aguilar had a three-run homer among his three hits.

Jimmy Nelson (6-4) gave up three hits in seven innings, including Joey Votto’s 22nd and 23rd homers, and matched his season high with 11 strikeouts.

Braun returned at the start of the series after missing a month with a strained left calf. He homered twice in the series, including his solo shot in the first off Bailey (0-2).

Indians 5, Rangers 1: Corey Kluber (7-2) allowed three hits and struck out 12 in eight innings, tying a franchise record held by Bob Feller with four consecutive games with double-digit strikeouts, as host Cleveland defeated Texas.

Pinch-hitter Lonnie Chisenhall had a two-run double in a three-run sixth inning as the Indians beat the Rangers for the sixth time in seven meetings this season.

Andrew Cashner (3-7) was struck on the right elbow by a broken bat in the sixth inning and was removed a batter later. The Rangers said he sustained a bruise and X-rays were negative.

Tigers 7, Royals 3: Michael Fulmer (7-6) came within one out of a shutout as host Detroit defeated Kansas City.

Detroit’s Justin Upton, Ian Kinsler and Andrew Romine homered off Jakob Junis (2-2).

Kansas City avoided the shutout when Ramon Torres and Jorge Bonifacio singled with two outs in the ninth, then Drew Butera drove them in with a double.

Astros 6, Athletics 1: Carlos Correa homered twice off rookie Daniel Gossett (1-3) and drove in four runs as A.L. West-leading Houston improved to 10-2 against Oakland this season with a home win.

Brad Peacock (5-1) allowed two hits, one run and struck out seven but lasted only five innings after tying a career high by walking six.

Cardinals 10, Diamondbacks 4: Randal Grichuk hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the seventh inning and drove in five runs as St. Louis defeated Arizona in Phoenix.

Arizona led 3-2 with two outs in the seventh when pinch-hitter Luke Voit doubled off Ruby De La Rosa (0-1). Matt Carpenter was intentionally walked, and Grichuk sent a 1-2 slider into the left-field seats.

Lance Lynn (6-5) allowed three runs and four hits in six innings, struck out seven and walked one.

Orioles 2, Blue Jays 0: Ubaldo Jimenez (3-3) pitched two-hit ball over eight innings, and Jonathan Schoop had two hits and sacrifice fly as Baltimore defeated host Toronto to win consecutive road series after going more than two months without one.

Caleb Joseph, a late add to the lineup in place of injured catcher Welington Castillo, hit an RBI single off J.A. Happ (2-5), who allowed eight hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Brad Brach finished the three-hitter for his 15th save.

Mets 6, Marlins 3: Jay Bruce had a pair of RBI hits and scored twice, and New York took the rubber game of its series against Miami to finish 5-5 on a road trip that started badly.

Seth Lugo (3-1), making his fourth start of the year, allowed three runs, two earned, in six innings. Addison Reed, New York’s fourth pitcher, pitched around a leadoff single in the ninth to earn his 12th save.

Jose Urena (6-3) gave up five runs, three earned, in six innings.

Padres 6, Braves 0: Rookie Dinelson Lamet allowed four hits over seven innings, and Wil Myers and Hunter Renfroe hit two-run homers as host San Diego beat Atlanta.

Lamet (3-2), in his seventh career start, was stellar as he spotted his mid-90s fastball and was able to get the Braves to chase his late-breaking slider. He struck out eight and walked one.

Jaime Garcia (2-6) lasted six innings, surrendering six runs and seven hits. He had six strikeouts with three walks.

Pirates 4, Rays 0: Jameson Taillon scattered seven hits over 6 1/3 innings, Gregory Polanco and John Jaso hit solo home runs and host Pittsburgh beat Tampa Bay.

Taillon (4-2) walked two and struck out four in his longest outing since returning from a battle with testicular cancer earlier this month, lowering his ERA to 2.97 despite allowing at least one base runner in six of the seven innings he worked. Andrew McCutchen went 3 for 3 with an RBI single. The 2013 National League MVP is hitting .397 since June 1.

Chris Archer (6-5) allowed three runs in six innings, striking out five without issuing a walk for Tampa Bay, which has lost four of five.

Logan Morrison and Shane Peterson had two hits apiece for the Rays but Tampa Bay went 1 for 11 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.
