Coeur d’Alene Tribe honored at Friday reception for ongoing work to protect Lake Coeur d’Alene
The Coeur d’Alene Tribe will be honored for its work to protect and restore Lake Coeur d’Alene during a Friday evening reception in Spokane.
The “Winter Waters” event runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Patsy Clark Mansion, 2208 West Second Ave.
Tickets are $35 per person.
Lake Coeur d’Alene lies within the tribe’s ancestral homelands.
In 1998, the tribe regained ownership of the southern third of the lake through litigation.
The tribe has been a long-running force in litigation to address a century of toxic mining waste in both the Coeur d’Alene River and Lake Coeur d’Alene.
“Winter Waters,” an annual event, is is jointly hosted by Sierra Club’s Upper Columbia River Group and the Center for Environmental Law & Policy.
